A Big Thankyou to Everyone for your Donations
Hi everyone,I’m fundraising for Daffodil Day, to raise much needed funds for Cancer Research.
Hi everyone, once again I am supporting Cancer Councils Daffodil Day Appeal for 2024.
Every year Daffodil Day is an emotional roller coaster for me, I get upset and a lot of the time, tears remembering our dear family and friends lost to this horrible disease and then I am happy to get out there in my now well known yellow suit to help raise awareness and raise much needed funds for Cancer Research. I speak to so many people who approach me and tell me their sad stories or their happy stories and it means so much to me to be able to listen and support those people knowing what they have gone through with a family member or a dear friend.
My story first started back in 2017 when my best mate Steve was diagnosed with Cancer and given 3 weeks to live, it blew us all away. At that time Cancer Council was looking for volunteers for Daffodil Day "For Someone I Know" which was me and how I became to now be involved in Daffodil Day Appeal every year since 2017.
Steve was so proud of me and on Daffodil Day he wanted to join me but was having chemo and that knocked him around. To my surprise he battled on in the true Ironman that he was and turned up behind me and hugged me, we both burst into tears.
Steve fought on with treatment despite being told it wouldn't work and unfortunately I lost my best mate of 37yrs one year and 10 days later, it was devastating not only for myself and my wife and family but of course for Steve's wife and young family, no words can describe it unless you have been there, like so many have.
So now every year I get into my yellow suit for Daffodil Day representing Cancer Council WA, in memory of Steve, knowing he will always be by my side and looking down on me proud of me along with all the many of other families, I do this to help raise much needed funds to hopefully one day find a cure for this horrible disease that affects so many people and loved ones.
I now also add in the memory of yet another couple of my good Navy mates, Dane Alderson & Barry "Baz" O'Neill who had both been battling Cancer, unfortunately Baz went down fast and we never got to meet up again, like I had planned and sadly both of them losing their battles in 2022.
So Daffodil Day I now also do in memory of both Baz & Dane and thoughts with both their wives, Christine & Erika and families.
This is my 8th Daffodil Day Appeal and I am proud being part of this event so if you can support me in raising funds again this year for such a very important cause, no matter how small amount, it all helps, it would be so much appreciated.
I thank you in advance and please feel free to share my page, thanking you kindly.
